FAQs

  • For your Amazon journey, we recommend bringing:

    • Swimwear

    • Sun protection (high SPF)

    • Hat or cap

    • Sunglasses

    • Light, long clothing for sun and insect protection

    • Sturdy shoes for jungle walks

    • A small daypack

    • A reusable water bottle

    • A headlamp (if you have one)

    • Flip-flops for the boat

    • Binoculars (optional, but great for birdwatching)

These items will keep you comfortable and well-prepared for life on the river and in the rainforest.

  • Surprisingly, no. The Rio Negro is known for its acidic “blackwater,” which naturally keeps mosquito populations very low.
You may encounter a few insects during walks in the forest, but on the boat and along most parts of the river, mosquitoes are minimal.

We still provide mosquito nets in the cabins as a precaution — but most guests are pleasantly surprised by how few mosquitoes they see.

  • For any trip to the Amazon region, it’s recommended to check official travel health guidelines and consult a medical professional before you travel.
Recommendations can vary depending on your country, your health situation, and recent updates.

Many travelers choose to be informed about vaccines such as yellow fever, tetanus, hepatitis A/B, or others — but the final decision should always be made with a doctor or travel clinic.

    We recommend checking:

    • Your country’s official travel health website, and

    • A certified travel medicine clinic for personalized advice.

  • Our crew speaks Portuguese.
If you don’t speak Portuguese, we ensure clear communication by providing either a translator or an English-speaking guide for your tour.
You will always be able to understand instructions, ask questions, and enjoy the experience fully.

  • Wi-Fi is available on board as an optional add-on.
However, we encourage guests to enjoy the journey offline, as many find the Amazon experience even more relaxing, immersive, and meaningful without constant connectivity.

  • We recommend leaving behind large suitcases, strong perfumes, loud speakers, and unnecessary single-use items.
A simple backpack works best on the boat, and keeping things light helps protect the environment and shared spaces.

  • Yes, but please use it respectfully.
Some areas have restrictions, and drones must be operated in a way that does not disturb wildlife or other guests.
Always check with the crew before flying.

  • The Amazon is beautiful year-round.
Water levels change with the seasons, which means each period offers different landscapes and experiences — from flooded forests to beaches and clear-water areas.
There is no “bad” month, just different versions of the rainforest.
