Your Experience

Let us take you deeper into the Amazon — along the Rio Negro, through quiet waterways, forest trails, river islands, and wildlife-rich landscapes. Each activity reveals a different side of the rainforest and the region we explore together.

Our journeys also lead through the Anavilhanas Archipelago, one of the world’s largest freshwater island groups, with hundreds of islands, channels, and flooded forests shaped by the Rio Negro. Protected as a national park, it is a sanctuary for wildlife, such as the pink dolphins called “boto”, and one of the Amazon’s most beautiful and biodiverse areas — calm, vast, and truly unique.

1. Islands

The Anavilhanas Archipelago is a seasonal floodplain, creating countless temporary islands as the water rises and falls throughout the year.
During these moments, we explore the landscape by small motorboat, gliding between trees, waterways, and river-formed islands.

From the water, you get a unique perspective of the forest — spotting birds, observing wildlife, and seeing how the Amazon transforms with each season.
Every island tour is different, shaped by the river and its ever-changing rhythm.

2. Rainforest

A guided jungle walk lets you experience the rainforest from the inside — surrounded by the scents of plants, wood, and rich forest air.
As you move along natural trails, you’ll learn about the region’s unique flora and fauna, discover animal tracks and wildlife, and gain a deeper understanding of how the forest lives, breathes, and connects.

Every step reveals something new: sounds, colors, textures, and the hidden life of the Amazon.

3. Sand Dunes

A visit to one of the Amazon’s river sand dunes offers a quiet, relaxing break
along the journey.
Here you can feel the warm sand beneath your feet, watch fish swimming close to the shore, and see the river’s unique reddish-brown colors shimmer
in the sunlight.

It’s a peaceful place to pause, swim, and simply enjoy the calm of the Rio Negro.

4. Wildlife

A night safari reveals the Amazon in a completely different light — or rather, in its mysterious darkness.
You’ll hear the sounds of the forest come alive: frogs, cicadas, and the gentle chorus of nighttime wildlife. As we move quietly along the river’s edge, you may spot snakes and birds resting in the trees, and caimans gliding near the waterline.

Above you, the sky opens into a bright field of stars and moonlight, reflected across the Rio Negro.
It’s a truly magical experience — peaceful, wild, and unforgettable.

5. Lagoon

Traveling further upstream, we reach an area where the river meets and merges with smaller connecting waterways.
At this point, a calm, crystal-clear lagoon forms — a unique place where the water slows, brightens, and reveals its sandy bottom.
Here you can take a kayak and paddle through narrow channels, watch fish moving beneath the surface, swim, or snorkel
in the still, transparent water.
Moving at your own pace, you can explore this peaceful,
bright lagoon and enjoy one of the most intimate and serene moments of the entire journey.

6. Caves

Cave explorations take you on a guided walk through the rainforest, where you’ll discover impressive rock formations and learn how these ancient structures were shaped over time.
Along the way, small streams, roots, and unusual plant species create a landscape full of life — home to animals whose footprints you may find on the forest floor.

The play of light and shadow inside the caves is striking, and the natural echoes and sounds make the experience truly unique.
It’s a journey that combines geology, wildlife, and the quiet beauty of the Amazon’s hidden places.

7. Waterfall

Our waterfall excursion is a two-day adventure with an overnight stay deep
in the forest.
Depending on the water level, we travel further into the jungle by motorboat before beginning the hike to a hidden waterfall — a peaceful spot surrounded
by untouched rainforest.

Once there, you can enjoy a meal by the water, swim in the natural pool,
and relax on the small sandy riverbank.
The campsite is set up in the surrounding area, allowing you to spend the night right in the heart of the Amazon, surrounded by the sounds and calm of the forest.

The next morning, we hike back to the motorboat and return to BOTO.
It’s a unique and breathtaking experience — the kind of natural beauty you most likely haven’t encountered before.

8. Colonial Ruins

A visit to Airão Velho takes you into one of the Amazon’s most intriguing
historical sites.
Hidden along the Rio Negro, this abandoned colonial town was once an active settlement founded in the 17th century. Over time, rising river levels,
economic decline, and the harshness of the rainforest led its inhabitants to leave — and nature slowly reclaimed the place.

Today, wandering through Airão Velho feels like stepping into a quiet,
open-air museum shaped by time and the jungle.
You’ll walk past old stone walls, crumbling houses, and the remains of a small church, now intertwined with roots, vines, and towering trees. Wildlife often roams freely here, moving through what was once a town square or family home.

Our visit combines light walking, storytelling, and the chance to observe how the forest has blended with history — creating an atmosphere that is both peaceful and deeply fascinating.
It’s a place where past and present meet, offering a rare glimpse into the early days of Amazonian settlement and the incredible power of nature to reclaim what once belonged to people.
